About the Author Henry Moore (1898–1986) was the British sculptor with enormous response in the second half of the 20th century. His sculptures characterized for a longer period the public space in various dimensions. The TV reports in Germany from the governments seat for example had been over years opened with the view on the bungalow with a Moore sculptur in front of it. In his forms Henry Moore formulated the abstraction of the human body, typically as Mother and Child or Reclining Figures. No doubt that his work is exhibited worldwide in the 20th century while his creator gots awards and numerous titles of honory doctor, significant was his refusal of the ennobling by the Queen 1951, but he accepted for his work nominations for the honorary membership 1961 in the American Academy of Arts, 1963 the Order of Merit, 1972 in the French Académie des Beaux Arts, and 1980 the membership of the American Philosophical Society. After his death 31st August 1986 his ash was buried at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Read more
